Incubate to Innovate’s ChangeMaker Innovation Activator #3 is Identify Patterns in Information & Research.
If you are first Creating Safety & Building Trust and then Interrogating Reality Together, the next step toward creating and sustaining a culture of innovation while navigating ambiguity is to Identify Patterns in Information & Research with your team.
“Designers are already fearless explorers of uncertainty.” – Suzanne Gibbs Howard, Dean of IDEO U
Ambiguity and uncertainty can make us feel uncomfortable. However, when we Identify Patterns in Information & Research, we begin to have something concrete to digest and ideate around.
Incubate to Innovate recently launched a deep dive project with a school into their data both academically and organizationally. I appreciated the safety created for these conversations, and I was grateful for the courage to interrogate reality together. Identifying upward and downward trends and patterns in the information allowed the team to have a concrete direction when it came to ideating future solutions.
When concrete patterns emerge as we Embrace Exploration, a great tool to use is the “I Like, I Wish, I Wonder” graphic organizer.
What patterns did you find that you like?
What patterns did you see that you wish you knew more about or wish did not exist?
What patterns are you wondering about?
This promotes unity for taking the next steps as a team!
