Synthesizing Puzzle Pieces is a graphic organizer that allows young learners to walk through the process of synthesizing new information with guidance and support. The first puzzle piece asks students to identify what they thought at the beginning. With the following puzzle pieces, students are to write in what they have discovered and learned from multiple different sources during their research. The last puzzle piece is left for students to identify what they are thinking based on what they have learned. The final synthesizing statement is what the student thinks now and where they want to take their design challenge moving forward. It works great to guide an elementary class through this process as a team or in a large group setting. The Synthesizing Puzzle Pieces is a colorful, landscape PDF download that can be used throughout grades PreK-5 and across subject areas.
