Moving from the Mode of Plan to the Mode of Create during the ChangeMaker Innovation Process ™ allows ideas to come to life in the form of a prototype that becomes a physical model of a design solution that can be experienced by others.
Produce a prototype to get the ideas and explorations into the physical world.
How can I create the prototype?
The Mode of Create allows innovative ideas to be brought to the physical world with the goal of blessing others within your sphere of influence to impact the world in positive ways.
When developing a prototype, one should be conscious of two main things:
- The prototype needs to be palpable and interactive so the user it is intended for can explore and experience it first hand.
- The prototype should allow for you to show HOW it is used versus just telling someone about how it can be used.
The KEY is understanding that a prototype is anything that takes physical form.
Today, we want to stretch your thinking to view prototyping beyond creating a model, object, or 3-D image. You could consider trying one of the following:
Create a storyboard, empathy map, or journey map
Write a song, speech, or a play
Write a story, blog, or speech
Design or recreate an experience
Design or redesign a room or space
Create and showcase an art piece or sculpture
Cultivate culinary skills by trying a new recipe
This is our chance to refine the solutions to make them better.
What needs to be changed?
Testing allows us to have the confidence to refine, reshape, and improve designs after hearing constructive feedback and doing personal analysis.
The SWOT + Questions method allows for analysis of the internal factors relating to the design challenge: Strengths and Weaknesses. And, the method allows for analysis of external factors relating to the design challenge: Opportunities and Threats. The goals is to make the design solution even more effective.
“Create. Not for the money. Not for the fame. Not for the recognition. But for the pure joy of creating something and sharing it.” – Ernest Barbaric
