Moving from the Synthesize Mode to the Imagine Mode during the ChangeMaker Innovation Process™ encourages individuals to let their ideas soar!
Brainstorm:
Generate ideas using your imagination without limitations. Employ a growth mindset and refuse judgment to increase the fluency of the ideas. What ideas do you have to solve the problem or create the opportunity?
We live in a world where individuals often seek one right answer. With innovation design thinking, there is room for many ideas and approaches simultaneously.
Consider dedicating time to dreaming and ideating where there is room for trial and error and Growth through Failure.
A great way to take the first step to Brainstorm is to use the Brainstorming Concept Map. This tool allows an individual to generate different ideas, to group common themes that are emerging, or to ask questions around a specific topic.
For many people, brainstorming while in the Imagine Mode can feel overwhelming. Here are a few ways to lower the barriers of ideation angst:
- Quantity Yields Quality: The more ideas you generate the more likely you are to land on a quality idea.
- Utilize Collaboration: Rely on others to build on your idea or come up with new innovative combinations of the idea.
- Embrace Exploration: Make a choice to refuse limitations and assumptions when brainstorming. This will make it easier to ideate without limits.
How do my ideas directly relate to my synthesized research?
Who can I enroll in my idea(s) or who can I share my idea(s) with for collaboration?
What ideas excite and motivate me to move forward?
How can I make my dreams into a reality?
For those that are interested we have many more methods, graphic organizers, and activities for the Imagine Mode in our Methods For Education Book!
